Inscribed: fineness stamp 800 as well as half moon and manufacturer's mark G.Hermeling (embossed). The Cologne goldsmith Gabriel Hermeling (1833-1904) bore the honorable title of imperial court blacksmith and enameller. His goldsmith workshop in Cologne was considered one of the leading manufacturers in the Rhineland. Hermeling enjoyed the favor of the Hohenzollerns and especially Kaiser Wilhelm II. His excellent works in gold and silver, decorated with enamel and precious stones, can be admired in the Cologne City Museum.
