Svart tomesode-kimono - Silke - Japan - 1900-talet
This is a traditional Japanese black tomesode formal kimono. The entire kimono is made of matte, delicate black crepe de chine fabric with a soft, subtle texture and a luxurious drape. The wide bodice and short, wide sleeves are the signature tomesode cut. Three circular white spots are provided above the collar, representing the five crests for embroidery. The lining is a smooth, pure white fabric, with clean, narrow white binding at the hem and cuffs, demonstrating meticulous craftsmanship and neat stitching.
A red square engraved artist's seal is located on the side of the garment, a mark of this hand-dyed piece.
The kimono features the classic black tomesode hem with a symmetrical design of large ironing paper on both sides. The elaborate painted designs are only applied to the lower half of the hem, contrasting with the simple, elegant black upper body, creating a luxurious effect. The two sets of patterns are framed by ironing paper bound with red rope knots, resulting in a rich and full composition. The entire set features traditional auspicious and celebratory patterns.
