Kilkerran is produced at Glengyle Distillery in Campbeltown and is closely connected to Springbank. Both distilleries are owned by J&A Mitchell, while Glengyle shares its production team, traditional floor maltings and bottling facilities with neighbouring Springbank. In contrast to the standard lightly peated Kilkerran, the Heavily Peated series is produced at around 45 PPM and released in small batches at cask strength. This lot contains Batch 13 and Batch 14, both matured in a combination of 90% bourbon and 10% sherry casks. Batch 13 was bottled at 58.6% and shows notes of creamy butterscotch, banana fritters, elderflower, honeydew melon, Ibérico ham, verbena and honeycomb. Batch 14 was bottled at 58.3% and has a slightly more savoury profile, with honeycomb, wholemeal toast, chargrilled seafood, smoky bacon, lemon shortbread, melon, lemon zest and a sweet, buttery finish with lingering peat smoke.
