Lancia - Lambda series 2 - 1924

HIGHLIGHTS: • Rare 2nd Series Lancia Lambda Tourer featuring matching numbers for engine, chassis, and 3-speed gearbox • Meticulously restored and freshly recommissioned by specialized Lancia Lambda experts in Turin • Presented in its striking original 1924 factory color shade of bright light green • Eligible for prestigious historic events, with registration for the Registro 1000 Miglia underway • Sold new in Australia in 1924 and repatriated to Turin after exactly 100 years HISTORY / OVERVIEW Conceived by Vincenzo Lancia and introduced in 1922, the Lancia Lambda is universally recognized as an engineering masterpiece and a landmark in automotive history. It was the world's first production car to feature a load-bearing monocoque chassis, an independent front suspension with sliding pillars, and a compact narrow-angle V4 engine. The 2nd Series, produced in limited numbers during the early 1920s, refined these groundbreaking innovations while retaining the pure avant-garde character of the original design. This exceptional 1924 Lancia Lambda 2nd Series Tourer was originally delivered new to Australia. Found and acquired there in 2024, it had undergone a meticulous restoration, after which it saw minimal use due to the previous owner's health. Repatriated to its birthplace of Turin exactly one century after leaving the factory, the vehicle was entrusted to a renowned local workshop specializing in Lancia Lambdas to undergo a complete mechanical recommissioning. A detailed inspection confirmed its exceptional authenticity, verifying matching numbers across the engine, chassis, and original 3-speed transmission. The eye-catching light green paintwork was also confirmed as the exact shade with which the car left the Lancia factory in 1924. Registration with the Registro 1000 Miglia is currently underway, making it an ideal candidate for premier historic rallies. BODYWORK / PAINT: The open Tourer bodywork is finished in its original factory shade of bright light green, accented by black wings and running boards. The paint application remains in remarkable condition, displaying high gloss and excellent panel alignment throughout. The radiator shell, brass badging, fold-down windscreen frame, and external fittings show a fine, authentic appearance. The black fabric folding soft top is well-fitted, clean, and structurally sound. INTERIOR: The open cockpit features brown leather upholstery with classic vertical fluting across the front and rear bench seats. The leather surfaces are well-preserved, supple, and exhibit a subtle, elegant patina. The rear compartment, door panels, and wooden dashboard trim are intact and nicely detailed. The large four-spoke steering wheel, period instrumentation, and dash-mounted controls retain their historical integrity. MECHANICS: Power is provided by Lancia's revolutionary narrow-angle V4 engine (Engine No. 813, matching Type 67), paired with its original matching 3-speed manual gearbox. Mechanical inspection confirms excellent order following a complete recommissioning by specialized Lambda restorers in Turin. The engine bay is exceptionally clean, retaining classic details such as the wooden cooling fan blades and correct vintage ignition wiring. The sliding pillar front suspension, mechanical brake linkages, and wire wheels fitted with vintage-pattern tires are cleanly presented and function as intended. DOCUMENTS: • Historical documentation and inspection records confirming matching chassis (No. 10758) and engine numbers (No. 813) • Documentation supporting the ongoing application process for the Registro 1000 Miglia • Supporting literature and history of its repatriation from Australia to Turin The car is located in Turin, Italy.
