Bulova Squadron – Art Deco Rectangular Dress Watch – Cal. 8AH – 17 Jewels – c. 1946–1947 A beautiful and highly characterful vintage Bulova Squadron, dating from approximately 1946–1947, featuring an elegant rectangular Art Deco-inspired case, a beautifully aged silvered dial and the desirable Bulova Calibre 8AH Swiss-made manual-winding movement with 17 jewels. The watch presents an especially attractive vintage aesthetic. The rectangular case has softly rounded contours and distinctive stepped/faceted lugs, giving the watch a sophisticated mid-century appearance. The original-style dial features applied gold-tone Arabic numerals, an outer minute track and a recessed small-seconds subsidiary dial at 6 o'clock. The original-style gold-tone hands complement the numerals beautifully. The dial displays an authentic vintage patina, with fine signs of age that are entirely consistent with a watch of this period and contribute considerably to its character. The movement is particularly interesting for collectors. It is signed “BULOVA WATCH CO.” and marked 8AH / 17 Jewels / Swiss, a manual-winding calibre used by Bulova during the 1940s. Examples of Bulova watches fitted with the 8AH are documented from approximately 1943–1948. The watch is fitted with an attractive gold-tone articulated expansion bracelet, which gives the piece a distinctive period appearance and complements the rectangular case very well. Condition: The watch is in very good overall vintage cosmetic condition. The case retains its attractive gold-tone appearance, while the dial shows authentic age-related patina. There are minor signs of wear consistent with its considerable age. Please carefully examine all photographs, which form an integral part of the condition description. Functionality: The watch is currently running and functioning. As with any vintage mechanical watch, no guarantee is given regarding long-term accuracy, amplitude or power reserve. Service history: The service history is unknown. No documentation of a recent overhaul is available. A professional service is therefore recommended before regular daily use, as would be advisable for any vintage mechanical timepiece of this age.
