Patricia Lee Smith (född den 30 december 1946) är en amerikansk sångerska, låtskrivare, poet, målare, författare och fotograf. Hennes debutalbum 1975 Horses gjorde henne till en inflytelserik medlem i New York-baserade punken. Smith har förenat rock och poesi i sitt verk. År 1978 var hennes mest kända låt, “Because the Night”, som hon skrev tillsammans med Bruce Springsteen, som nådde nummer 13 på Billboard Hot 100 och nummer fem på UK Singles Chart.

År 2005 utsågs Smith till Commander av Ordre des Arts et des Lettres av det franska kulturministeriet. År 2007 invaldes hon i Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I november 2010 vann Smith National Book Award för sin memoar Just Kids, skriven för att uppfylla ett löfte hon gav till Robert Mapplethorpe, hennes långvariga partner. Hon rankas som nummer 47 på Rolling Stone magazine’s 100 Greatest Artists of All Time, publicerad 2010, och tilldelades Polar Music Prize år 2011.
