The instrument bears the distinctive DOLMETSCH / J&M / MADE IN ENGLAND maker’s mark together with individual serial number 2980. According to Dolmetsch, instruments carrying this J&M mark and an individual serial number are handmade recorders designed and voiced by Jeanne and Marguerite Dolmetsch. Details * Maker: J & M Dolmetsch * Made in England * Serial number: 2980 * Treble / alto recorder * Approximately 47 cm long when assembled * Three-piece construction * Very dense, extremely dark hardwood, believed to be ebony/African blackwood or a closely related dense hardwood * Corked joints * Pale thumb-hole bushing * Approximate weight of the three wooden sections: 260 g * Supplied with fitted blue-lined hard case * Cleaning rod/accessories included as pictured Condition The recorder presents very well for its age, with expected light cosmetic signs of previous use. The wooden sections appear structurally sound from visual inspection, with no obvious major cracks or repairs observed. The cork joints remain present and the instrument assembles correctly. The fitted case shows age-related wear but continues to provide suitable storage and protection.
