2024 Bodegas César Márquez, Valtuille Vino de Villa - Bierzo - 6 Flaskor (0,75L)
6 Bottles Lot – César Márquez Pérez Valtuille Vino de Villa 2024 – Bierzo
An exceptional village wine from Bierzo crafted by César Márquez, one of the leading figures of the new generation of Spanish winemakers. Valtuille Vino de Villa 2024 is a precise and deeply terroir-driven expression of old-vine Bierzo, produced from six historic parcels surrounding the village of Valtuille de Abajo.
The wine is composed of 85% Mencía, 10% Alicante Bouschet and 5% white grapes and other traditional field-blend varieties, preserving the authentic viticultural heritage of Bierzo. The vineyards, planted on clay and sandy soils between 510 and 560 meters altitude, are over 100 years old and cultivated under Atlantic-continental climatic conditions with low yields and meticulous manual harvest.
The 2024 vintage was particularly challenging and marked by extreme weather conditions, including severe spring rains and a devastating hailstorm in June that reduced production dramatically in several key vineyards. Despite the difficulties, the vintage produced wines of remarkable freshness, tension and complexity, with excellent natural acidity, slow maturation and moderate alcohol levels around 13%.
Fermentation occurred mainly in small 1,000-liter vessels with approximately 15% whole clusters. Maceration lasted between 18 and 21 days with gentle extraction techniques. The wine was then aged individually by parcel for 12 months in 500-liter French oak barrels before the final blend, preserving the singular identity of each historic vineyard site.
The resulting wine is elegant, vibrant and mineral-driven, offering aromas of wild berries, violets, herbs and subtle earthy nuances. On the palate it combines purity, freshness and refined structure with the unmistakable character of old-vine Bierzo.
Only 7,108 bottles were produced.
