2016 Dugat-Py - Mazoyères-Chambertin Grand Cru - 2 Flaskor (0,75L)

Domaine Dugat-Py Mazoyères-Chambertin Grand Cru 2016. Tasting Notes Appearance: Deep ruby red, dense, and concentrated. Nose: Majestic and profound. Distinct aromas of black cherry, blueberry, and small red berries emerge, complemented by notes of blood, game, graphite, and a hint of spice from the whole bunch. Palate: Impressive, structured, and energetic on the palate. It presents a dense, well-sculpted tannic texture, balanced by a vivid mineral/chalky freshness and a great concentration of fruit. The finish is very long, austere, and incredibly persistent. Aging: A wine designed for very long aging; the ideal drinking window extends beyond 2030–2050. Critics' Scores (2016 Vintage) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: 95–97 / 100 Jasper Morris (Inside Burgundy): 95–98 / 100 Burghound (Allen Meadows): 93–96 / 100 Decanter: 95 / 100 Facts About the Producer and the Wine Caves du L'Aumônerie (11th century): The inscription on the bottle neck refers to the Domaine's historic 13th-century cellar located in Gevrey-Chambertin, one of the oldest and most evocative in all of Burgundy. The Union of Surnames: The Domaine was founded by Bernard Dugat and his wife Chantal Py, combining their two family names ("Dugat-Py"). Old Vineyards and Organic Practices: The family works the vineyards with a rigorous organic approach and with the help of horses to avoid compacting the soil. The average age of the vines for the Grand Crus often exceeds 70-80 years. Unmistakable Style: Dugat-Py is renowned for a concentrated, dense, and long-lived style, characterized by the use of a high percentage of whole bunches (80-90% in 2016 for this cru) and aging in premium French oak. Mazoyères vs. Charmes: Although the appellation allows Mazoyères-Chambertin to be labeled simply as Charmes-Chambertin, Dugat-Py chooses to claim the name of its original climate to highlight its darker, more rigid, and earthy minerality compared to the more open character of Charmes.
