PENTAX Spotmatic F + Super-Takumar 55mm f/1.8, tested and working. Hello from Japan! We provide high-quality cameras and lenses to the world. The Asahi Pentax Spotmatic F of 1973 is the last and most refined of the celebrated Spotmatic line, the family that began in 1964 and put through-the-lens metering into the hands of millions. It keeps the beautifully damped mechanics and the universal M42 screw mount that make Spotmatics such a pleasure to use, and with SMC Takumar lenses it adds open-aperture metering. Fitted here is the earlier Super-Takumar 55mm f/1.8, a classic standard lens prized for its smooth rendering; with this lens the camera meters in the traditional stop-down mode. The lens uses thorium glass, which gives the characteristic warm tint seen in the photos. Condition: Used — Excellent Pre-owned, moderate signs of use, optics clear Serial Number Please check the photo. Appearance Light scuffs from normal use. Please check the photos. Optical Condition Finder: Cleaned internally — clear Lens / Sensor: Clear — no haze or fungus. The Super-Takumar 55mm f/1.8 uses thorium glass and shows the characteristic warm amber tint (see photos); this is normal for this lens and does not affect sharpness. Functional The camera operates properly — shutter, film transport and meter all work. Shutter speeds measured within normal range at 1s, 1/60 and 1/1000 (about 1s, 1/53 and 1/1200). The meter reads about +1.3 EV at EV12 and close to accurate (+0.3 EV) at EV15. A battery is needed for the meter only; the shutter is fully mechanical. The light seals have been replaced and the viewfinder cleaned internally. The lens focuses smoothly and the aperture blades are clean. Measured Performance We check these cameras on a shutter tester rather than by ear, and we publish what we measured: - 1 s — measured 1/1 s (on the mark) - 1/60 — measured 1/53 s (approx. 0.2 stop slow) - 1/1000 — measured 1/1200 s (approx. 0.3 stop fast) - Light meter accuracy — EV12: 1.3 OVER / EV15: 0.3 OVER Negative film has enough latitude to absorb deviations of this size, but the figures are here so you can judge for yourself. Servicing This camera was serviced by us before listing: - Light seals (foam) replaced - Viewfinder cleaned internally Bundled Items Only what you can see in the pictures will be included in the package.
