1986 oil painting by Hassan Zighayer captures a vivid, sun-drenched rural scene using a thick, textured post-impressionist impasto technique. A peasant woman wearing a headscarf and boots stands quietly alongside a donkey hitched to a wooden cart laden with golden cargo. Zighayer employs a striking contrast of light and shadow, casting the foreground path in intense, bright sunlight while keeping the woman’s face softly shaded. A rich color palette of earthy ochres, deep browns, and vibrant, lush greens in the background foliage creates a warm, timeless atmosphere celebrating the rustic beauty of countryside labor. 52x38H cm 70x60H cm with frame.
