INNA PUPINA — FROM A SINGLE SPARK, 2024 Original Acrylic Painting — 30 × 30 × 3 cm Unique artwork — Mounted on a hardwood stretcher — Ready to hang From a Single Spark brings an expansive burst of colour into an intimate square canvas. Inna Pupina gathers expressive marks around a concentrated centre, allowing pink, red, yellow, violet and green to radiate across a luminous white ground. THE ARTWORK Angular strokes extend in different directions, creating a lively interplay of colour and movement. Warm earth tones and pale painted passages soften selected areas, while the exposed white ground gives the composition space to breathe. Dark droplets punctuate this outward rhythm. Their scattered placement introduces smaller, irregular accents among the broader painted gestures, encouraging the eye to move between individual details and the composition as a whole. Layered brushwork and broken edges retain the physical character of the painting process. Some passages appear concentrated and dense; others open into lighter, more dispersed marks. This shifting intensity gives the work a sense of energy unfolding across the surface. The title offers a poetic point of entry: a single spark becoming the beginning of something larger. It may suggest an idea taking shape, a moment of inspiration or the emergence of new possibilities. The composition leaves these associations open, expressing vitality through colour, gesture and space. Within its 30 × 30 cm format, From a Single Spark balances a concentrated presence with an impression of outward movement. ABOUT THE ARTIST Inna Pupina is a Latvian contemporary painter based in Riga. Working in acrylic on canvas, she explores the expressive relationships between colour, light and atmosphere. Her practice moves between landscape-inspired compositions and abstraction, using layered paint and gestural marks to convey sensations beyond literal description. Contrasts between spontaneous movement and considered structure give her paintings their distinctive rhythm. In From a Single Spark, these interests take the form of a radiant abstract composition, where colour becomes a means of expressing emergence, openness and possibility.
