Unzen Kiln - Tsuchiya Zenshiro (Unzen) - Tekopps-set (7) - Keramik, Lasyr

Fujina-ware Sencha Tea Set [布志名焼 煎茶器] (Fujina-yaki Sencha-ki) – Tsuchiya Zenshiro (Unzen) [土屋善四郎 (雲善)] (Tsuchiya Zenshiro / Unzen) A complete Fujina-ware sencha tea set consisting of a teapot (Kyusu), a water cooler (Yuzamashi), and five tea cups (Yunomi). The set was made by Tsuchiya Zenshiro (Unzen) of the Unzen Kiln in Izumo, Shimane Prefecture. About the Unzen Kiln: The Unzen Kiln has long been associated with the tea culture of the Izumo region. The Tsuchiya family served as official potters during the Edo period, and the kiln name “Unzen” and a gourd-shaped seal were historically granted to the family. These elements form an important part of the kiln’s background. About the Set: Sencha is traditionally brewed at a water temperature of around 70–80°C. The Yuzamashi is used to cool boiling water to an appropriate temperature before brewing. This set is unused and retains the warm, characteristic glaze of Fujina-ware, suitable for enjoying sencha with proper preparation. As interest in Japanese tea culture has increased internationally in recent years, sencha utensils such as teapots, water coolers, and cups have become appreciated for both practical use and cultural enjoyment. --- Artist Profile Tsuchiya Zenshiro (Unzen) • 1929: Succeeded the family kiln, Unzen Kiln. • 1987: Commended by the Governor of Shimane Prefecture for excellence in craftsmanship. • 1991: Passed away. --- Accessories Original wooden box (Tomobako). --- Dimensions & Weight Teapot (Kyusu): H 9 cm x W 13.5 cm x D 12 cm | Weight: 231 g Water Cooler (Yuzamashi): H 7.5 cm x W 10.5 cm x D 9 cm | Weight: 105 g Cups (Yunomi) x5: H 4.7 cm x Diameter 6.7 cm | Weight: 288 g (total for 5) Total Weight: 911 g (including box) --- Technique & Condition Technique: Pottery, glazed.
