2020 Graham's - Late Bottled Vintage Port - Douro - 6 Flaskor (0,75L)

2020 Graham’s Late Bottled Vintage Port 6 x 0.75L 6 Bottles Port Wine WINEMAKER: Charles Symington. AWARDS/RECOMMENDATIONS 95 Points, International Wine Challenge (2017 Vintage) 93 Points, Falstaff (2017 Vintage) 92 Points, Wine Enthusiast (2017 Vintage) 91 Points, Wine Spectator (2017 Vintage) 91 Points, Wine & Spirits Magazine (2017 Vintage) 90 Points, International Wine & Spirits Competition (2017 Vintage) 17 Points, Vinho Grandes Escolhas (2017 Vintage) Gold Medal, Concours Mondial de Bruxelles (2017 Vintage) 91 Points, Decanter World Wine Awards (2015 Vintage) Gold Medal, Berlin Wine Trophy (2015 Vintage) 92 Points, Meininger (2014 Vintage) 92 Points, Revista Adega (2012 Vintage) WINE VARIETIES: Principally Touriga Franca and Touriga Nacional with smaller contributions of Sousão, Alicante Bouschet as well as Tinta Amarela and Tinta Barroca. VINIFICATION This wine was matured in wood in the Graham’s 1890 lodge for six years prior to being bottled ready for drinking. Late Bottled Vintages, as the term implies, are bottled later than classic Vintage Ports (the latter after two years). TASTING NOTES The aromatic profile of this 2019 LBV is typically Graham’s, revealing blackcurrant and blackberry with secondary notes of dried mint leaf, eucalyptus, and a sprinkling of liquorice. The purity and freshness of the fruit are remarkable and the characteristic floral notes of rock rose (a wildflower which thrives in the Douro) also shine through. The rich, succulent black fruit flavours are bright and fresh, complemented by layers of cocoa, black plum and hints of white pepper. SERVING The Graham’s 2019 can be enjoyed anytime and pairs wonderfully with dark chocolate desserts as well as semi-cured and cured cheeses like Cheddar and Manchego. Once open, the wine will conserve all its fine properties for up to six weeks. Serve at room temperature. HISTORY Originally trading in textiles, William and John Graham accepted 27 barrels of port in payment of an outstanding debt in 1820. Inspired by this wine, they decided to devote their energy to producing the best port wines from the Douro Valley, and this was how Graham’s Port was born. One of the first port brands to buy land in the Upper Douro Valley, Quinta dos Malvedos was acquired in 1890. Malvedos has been a cornerstone of our wines ever since – a truly unique estate with an outstanding reputation for producing exceptional wines. 1890 was also the year that the Graham’s Lodge was built in Vila Nova de Gaia, across the river from Porto. Benefiting from a cooler maritime climate, it remains the ideal place to age our wines. It has been our home away from the Douro ever since, and now welcomes thousands of visitors each year. Andrew James Symington’s grandchildren, the 3rd generation of the Symington family acquired Graham’s in 1970 and this new chapter was marked with the production of the 1970 Vintage Port – one of the most celebrated vintages of the 20th century. Graham’s, together with the Symington family’s other port houses - Cockburn’s, Dow’s and Warre’s - remain the only British port companies independently owned by a single family. In 2020, we celebrated Graham’s bicentenary – 200 years dating back to William and John Graham in 1820. To commemorate this special occasion, we released our Bicentenary Collection. PLEASE NOTE: This is a recurring auction. The seal number(s) you see on the photos might differ from the one(s) on your bottle(s).
