ARCHIVAL FILE (1888–1891) – Italian Consulate in Constantinople / Ottoman Empire A rare and complete 3-piece judicial dossier issued by the Royal Italian Consulate in Constantinople, documenting the full legal process following a maritime injury aboard the Italian steamship Nilo. Such unified consular archives from the late Ottoman period are extremely scarce. CONTENTS (3 Original Documents) 1) 1888 – Maritime Injury Report (Steamship “Nilo”) Official report issued by Navigazione Generale Italiana (Palermo). Describes an onboard injury involving Italian crew members and was formally submitted to the Italian Consulate in Constantinople. Includes original handwritten text and the captain’s signature. Beautiful early steamship letterhead. 2) 1891 – Consular Summons (Reggio Alfonso) Issued by the Royal Italian Consulate in Pera (Constantinople). Orders the addressee to appear before the Italian Judicial Instructor. Stamped, dated and fully handwritten. Strong evidence of ongoing legal procedure. 3) 1891 – Second Consular Summons (Giuseppe Basili) Printed on characteristic blue consular paper. Summons a second witness/defendant connected to the same case. Confirms continuation of the legal process started in 1888.
