Forntida Egypten Forntida egyptisk ca 664–332 f.Kr. Faience Toth-amulett Amulett (Utan reservationspris)

Ancient Egypt – Faience Amulet of Thoth Late Period, c. 664–332 BC A finely modelled ancient Egyptian faience amulet depicting the god Thoth, shown in anthropomorphic form with a human body and the head of an ibis (often mistakenly described as a crane). Thoth was one of the most important deities in the Egyptian pantheon, revered as the god of wisdom, writing, knowledge, magic, and the moon. He was also regarded as the divine scribe and a protector of scribes, scholars, and the deceased in the afterlife. Amulets of Thoth were worn for intellectual clarity, protection, and divine guidance, and were commonly placed on the body or within mummy wrappings. The amulet is formed from turquoise-blue faience, with natural wear and glaze loss consistent with age. The figure stands upright on an integral base, with simplified yet recognisable details characteristic of Late Period production. A later-added suspension mount allows the piece to be worn or displayed while remaining fully reversible. Culture: Ancient Egyptian Deity: Thoth Period: Late Period Date: circa 664–332 BC Material: Faience Condition: Good for age. Surface wear, glaze loss, and encrustation consistent with burial and antiquity. No modern restoration observed. Dimensions & Weight: • Height: approx. 24.8 mm • Weight: approx. 1.2 g A genuine and evocative ancient amulet, ideal for collectors of Egyptian antiquities, religious artefacts, or symbolic jewellery, representing one of Egypt’s most intellectually and spiritually significant gods.
