This lot features a set of three vintage Japanese Kokeshi dolls in the Dento (traditional) style, created by well-known craftspeople from the Tohoku region. Each doll is hand-turned from wood and hand-painted using traditional water-based dyes. Kamata Etsuko (鎌田悦子): The softly faded green tones give the chrysanthemum motif on the body a warm appearance reminiscent of the morning sun. Abe Tsunekichi (阿部常吉): A charming doll with round eyes; the decorative band around the neck is said to represent the apron of Jizō, the guardian deity of children in Japan. Sato Kazuo (佐藤和男): A classic Nambu-style kokeshi, characterized by a gently swinging head like a baby’s rattle and an obi-style band pattern on the body. Kokeshi dolls originated over 150 years ago and are cherished for their simple expressions and gentle presence. This matching yet varied set brings a warm, authentic atmosphere to any interior or Japanese folk art collection. Handling Notes The faces and patterns are painted with water-based dyes and are sensitive to water. Clean gently with a dry cloth only. Avoid direct sunlight, excessive dryness, heating appliances, and very humid environments to prevent cracking, fading, or mold. Method of Shipment FedEx or Japan Post NOTICE The lot will be carefully packaged and shipped by FedEx or Japan Post. Delivery usually takes 1–2 weeks. Heavy items may be shipped by sea, which may take 1 to 2 months to arrive. The shipping method may vary depending on the item price and size. Sometimes Customs or the delivery company in your country may contact you by phone or email for clearance. Please make sure you are available to respond.
