It contains a compilation of songs from previous albums as well as various songs that had not previously appeared on an album. These include the band's first two singles, Arnold Layne, See Emily Play, and other material that was composed and recorded with former band leader Syd Barrett. The song Biding My Time by Roger Waters, which was previously only performed live by the band as part of the composition The Man / The Journey, is also included as a studio version. Cover The cover is a drawing by the drummer Nick Mason, which is supposed to represent an imaginative, utopian musical instrument. This instrument roughly resembles a church organ installed in a mechanical monster. It contains the inscription “A Bizarre Collection of Antiques & Curios”, which can be understood as the subtitle of the album.
