Kanazawa gold leaf is a traditional craft from Kanazawa City in Ishikawa Prefecture, which accounts for approximately 99% of Japan’s gold leaf production. Unlike printed or painted surfaces, each sheet of gold leaf is applied by hand by skilled artisans, resulting in refined seams and a deep, dignified brilliance. Originally made as a decorative backdrop for Hina Matsuri (Girls’ Day, celebrated on 3 March), where it would be placed behind hina dolls, the screen’s understated beauty makes it highly versatile. It is equally suitable as a background display for ceramics, flower arrangements, bonsai, sculptures, or collectible objects, enhancing them without distraction. The glossy black lacquered frame provides a strong contrast that further accentuates the warm glow of the gold surface. The three-panel construction allows the screen to stand independently, with the angle easily adjustable to suit different display needs. Overall, the screen is in good to very good used condition. There is one small inclusion visible on the front surface and minor scratches on the reverse. Please refer to the photos for details. Dimensions: approx. H 39 cm W 137.5 cm D 1.5 cm Centre panel width: approximately 78 cm ・Please make sure to review all the provided information and images before placing your bid. ・We make every effort to accurately represent the product's colors and textures in our photos.
