This piece was made by Ichikawa Tetsuro (also written as 銕琅 / 鉄琅, 1901–1987), a highly regarded artist from Tokyo who later lived in Nara. Born as the third son of Kinzō, he began training at the age of fourteen under Kanō Tetsuya. He first received the artist name Tetsuryō, and later in his early twenties adopted the name Tetsurō. Despite losing his hearing in his thirties, he continued to produce outstanding works ranging from early fine carvings to mature Nara ittōbori sculptures. He created only what satisfied his own artistic standards rather than commercial demand, exhibiting mainly through solo shows. His work was praised by Shimizu Kōshō, who regarded it as a national treasure and even superior to that of his teacher. For modern use, obidome are also widely enjoyed outside of kimono culture. Many collectors use them as stylish scarf slides or decorative sash accessories, giving them new versatility while preserving their traditional beauty. The inside of the wooden box lid features a commemorative inscription, signature, and seals. The obidome shows light wear, the pink obi cord has small stains, and the box has minor marks and age-related blemishes. Overall, it remains in good used condition.
