Spazierstock - Weißmetall - Arabesque Knochengriff
Antique walking stick with a carved horn- or bone-form handle, shaped with a pronounced curved projection and spiral-carved detailing. The handle shows hand-worked character, with natural colour variation and age-related patina consistent with a natural material. The form is unusual and visually striking, giving the piece strong individual presence.
The handle is fitted with a series of metal collars engraved with arabesque-style motifs, some of which resemble stylised letterforms. The engraving is decorative in nature and shows surface wear and patina consistent with age; no clear wording or maker’s mark is identifiable. The shaft is made of dark-stained wood, straight and smooth, with surface wear and handling marks commensurate with age and use. The tip appears to retain a bone ferrule, showing wear consistent with long-term use.
Based on style, materials and construction, the walking stick can be tentatively dated to the late 19th or early 20th century (circa 1890–1920). The overall design reflects late Victorian to early Edwardian taste, when carved natural-material handles and decorative mounts were popular.
Overall, the walking stick remains structurally intact and displays very well. Signs of age include surface wear to the handle, patina to the metal collars and wear to the wooden shaft, all consistent with an antique object of this type.
A characterful and uncommon antique walking stick, suitable as a collectible, decorative interior object or addition to a collection of historic canes.
