Gandhara Schiefer Kopf einer männlichen Figur oder eines Bodhisattva – mit Schnurrbart – mit topknottiertem Haar wie - 17 cm (Ohne mindestpreis)

Ancient Gandhara Stone Head Fragment – 2nd–3rd Century AD – Indo-Greek Buddhist Sculpture – 17 cm head and 30 cm total height with stand. A striking Gandhara stone head fragment, finely carved in schist and depicting a male figure or Bodhisattva with classical Greco-Buddhist features. The face retains the strong modelling and serene expression typical of Gandharan sculpture from the 2nd–3rd century AD. The stylised wavy hair arranged in a topknot and the naturalistic facial proportions clearly reflect the Hellenistic influence that spread through the Gandharan region after Alexander the Great. This unique fusion between Greek realism and Buddhist spirituality defines the Gandharan style — one of the earliest artistic bridges between East and West. Mounted on a custom black stand, this evocative fragment presents beautifully as a museum-quality sculptural artwork with timeless presence. Dimensions: • Head fragment: 17 cm high × 12 cm wide × 5 cm deep • Total height with stand: 30 cm Material: Grey schist stone Culture: Gandhara, 2nd–3rd century AD Provenance: From a Dutch private collection of important Asian art Condition: Good, with wear and age related patina consistent with antiquity. No restorations visible. Provenance: A dutch private collection of Asian arts put together over decades. From 14th century Chinese bronzes to objects like this one. NO additional paperwork is with the lot. The attribution and dating of this piece are based on stylistic and visual analysis only. No scientific or archaeometric testing (such as thermoluminescence or material spectroscopy) has been conducted. Shipping: Professionally packed and shipped with insurance and tracking. Note: Buyers are responsible for any customs duties, import taxes, or import regulations that may apply in their country. As this artwork is over 100 years old, shipments outside the European Union may require additional export documentation or permits. Any related fees or processing costs imposed by customs authorities are the responsibility of the buyer. I will assist with all necessary paperwork to ensure a smooth and compliant export process.
