Alessi - Patricia Urquiola - Tafelservice - 18/10 Edelstahl - Canale

In the world of contemporary dining, Canale by Patricia Urquiola for Alessi redefines the ritual of the table. Traditional settings often impose a sense of solitude: each diner confined to a personal space marked by plates, glasses and cutlery. Canale breaks these boundaries, moving the cutlery to a single, central point, a sculptural hub that invites sharing and dialogue. This striking object consists of six vertical tubes, designed to hold cutlery for six diners. Inspired by canals, symbols of connection and exchange, Canale transforms the table into a space of interaction. It is not just a functional piece; it is a theatrical centerpiece, shimmering with reflected light and celebrating a new, convivial gesture. Urquiola’s design speaks of new rituals: a curious provocation that encourages diners to find common ground, making the act of dining together more meaningful. Its proportions, weight and finish give it the presence of a miniature brutalist architecture, a precise composition that doubles as a table sculpture. Beyond aesthetics, Canale is versatile. Thanks to its sturdy construction and perforated base, it can also serve as a cutlery dryer, bridging the gap between kitchen utility and table elegance. As Patricia Urquiola explains: “The Canale cutlery holder embodies the value of sharing and conviviality. Six tubes for six diners, a cutlery organizer that creates a common gesture around the table. Inspired by canals, a symbol of connection and exchange, Canale turns the table into a sharing space.” Whether used during a festive meal or displayed as a design statement, Canale brings a sense of community, creativity, and contemporary beauty to any setting. This ‘’Canale’’ cutlery holder is in a new condition. Delivered with original packaging. About the designer: Born in Oviedo in 1961. In Milan, she studied architecture at the Politecnico, where she graduated under Achille Castiglioni and became his assistant. After working with Vico Magistretti and Piero Lissoni, she opened her own studio in 2001. The versatile designer creates for leading international design companies and works in the fields of architecture, product and interior design. Her innovative style combines tradition and experimentation, technology and craftsmanship. Some of her creations are exhibited in major art and design museums and she has received numerous awards.
