It is a symbol that represents the duality of existence (body/spirit, good/evil, temporary/eternal) and serves as an emblem of the lessons and philosophy taught within the higher degrees of the Rite. * One of the many used by my Family members... *The 32º of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, also known as 32° Scottish Rite Freemasonry, is an appendant body of Freemasonry that provides a series of degrees (from the 4th to the 32nd) that expand upon the philosophical and ethical teachings of the initial three degrees conferred in a craft (or blue) lodge. It is sometimes called the "University of Freemasonry" due to its focus on education through allegory and dramatic presentations. *While the degree numbers go up to 32 (and an honorary 33rd degree exists), no degree in Freemasonry is considered "higher" in rank than that of a Master Mason (the 3rd degree).
