While shaped as a vessel, it also stands as an art object, showcasing the artist’s mastery of form and texture. Mashiko ware, produced since the late Edo period in Tochigi Prefecture, is known for its earthy texture and warmth of touch. Sakata reinterprets this traditional pottery through a contemporary aesthetic, exploring the expressive possibilities of material and form. He has exhibited widely in Japan and internationally, extending his practice to paper, glass, and lighting. Signed on the base. Very good used condition with minimal wear.
