This impressive porcelain figural sedan chair is a high-quality continental decorative object dating from the beginning of the 20th century. Pieces of this type were intended as luxury cabinet objects and are increasingly difficult to find in complete and well-preserved condition. The seated female figure is finely modelled, with elegant facial features, delicately formed hands, and a carefully detailed coiffure. The dress is richly enamelled in soft blue and cream tones, enhanced with stippled decoration and gilded highlights. The modelling remains sharp and expressive throughout, indicating careful hand-finishing rather than mass production. The sedan chair itself is particularly notable for its large scale, measuring approximately 23 cm in height, which places it among the larger and more desirable examples of this model. The structure is lavishly gilded and retains its full set of original curved metal carrying arms, an important feature that is very often missing on comparable pieces. Their presence significantly enhances both the rarity and the value of the object. The interior of the chair is lined with fabric, a refined detail that is frequently absent on surviving examples. The exterior panels are hand-painted with romantic courtship scenes in the 18th-century manner, framed by ornate Rococo scrollwork. The painted scenes show good colour retention and fine brushwork, adding to the overall decorative appeal. A heraldic-style shield motif appears on one panel as a decorative element. Condition is excellent, especially for an object of this complexity. There are no visible cracks, restorations, or losses, including to the hands, face, or extremities.
