Hervorragende Verbindung von 2 Fossilfischen 'Knightia eocaena' – Eozän aus den USA – Green River - Tierfossil

Scientific name: †Knightia eocaena - Fossil Fish - 2 specimens in a mass mortality plate. Location: Kemmerer, Wyoming, USA Geological Formation: Green River Formation Age: Paleogene, Eocene (~48-51 million years) Size: Plate: 20,5x14x1,5cm - The biggest fish: 8cm Ref: S362 Observations: Beautiful mass mortality plate of the fossil fish Knightia eocaena from the Green River Formation of Wyoming. There 2 complete example of these fossil herring fishes. The specimens are wonderfully detailed with scales and fins easily seen. The specimens are completely natural. The level of detail is spectacular. About restorations, repairs or stabilization: They have been given a color enhancement treatment to make them more striking, while also serving as a preservation treatment. Another very interesting aspect of this specimen is that the matrix is covered in scattered scales and spines, making it quite attractive. Furthermore, the two specimens are preserved in a curious position, as if one were "biting" the other. However, their slight overlap is actually just a taphonomic coincidence. Fifty million years ago ancient Fossil Lake existed in what is now southwest Wyoming. The unusual chemistry of fossil lake prevented decay and scavenging of dead organisms while millimeter-thick layers of alternating limestone matter slowly accumulated. The result is laminated limestones that contained the highest concentration of fossil fish in the world. Since the discovery in the 1870's, many perfectly preserved fossil fish have been recovered. Preserved with the fish in the laminated limestone is a complete aquatic ecosystem: plants, insects, crustaceans, amphibians (frog and primitive salamander), alligators, turtles, birds, mammals, etc All our fossils come with Certificate of Authenticity. Every week, the issued Certificates of Authenticity are updated in our website database verification system. If you find that your certificate has not yet been updated, please contact us and we will update it immediately. Display not included. IMPORTANT SHIPPING INFORMATION: All shipments to the USA are sent via UPS Express. We are not responsible for any additional tariff charges that US Customs may add as import fees on the declared commercial value.
