unknown - Quranic Manuscript Page - Seljuk Turkey - 1080

This is a very ancient manuscript page from the Seljuk era, almost a millennia ago and is of Turkish origin. The folio recounts scriptures from Chapter 6 Al-Anam (Cattle) v.54-58 which tell of divine mercy, the rejection of polytheism, God's sole dominion over judgment, and His all-encompassing knowledge. Specifically, v.54 instructs the Prophet Muhammad to greet those who believe in God's signs with "Peace be upon you" (Salamun 'Alaikum). It emphasizes that God has "decreed upon Himself mercy," promising forgiveness and mercy to anyone who does wrong out of ignorance, then genuinely repents and mends their ways. V.55 highlights that God makes His signs clear so that the path of the wicked and wrongdoers might be distinct from the path of the righteous. V.56 commands that the Prophet declare that he has been forbidden from worshipping anything other than God and state that following the disbelievers' desires would lead him astray from the rightly guided path. V.57 asserts that the Prophet stands upon clear evidence from his Lord. It makes clear that the hastening of punishment demanded by disbelievers is not within his power, as judgment belongs to God alone, who declares the truth and is the best judge. V.58 tells of the consequence of Immediate Judgment, that if the power to hasten judgment were with the Prophet, the matter between the believers and the wrongdoers would have been decided immediately. Instead, judgment is left to God, who best knows how to deal with the wrongdoers. The condition is classified as 'fair' because there is water staining to the folio and some professional repairs seen on the rear of the manuscript. However, for a manuscript 975 years old, it has been preserved remarkably well. This is a rare manuscript worthy of any collection. Please note that shipping costs are not solely the cost of the postal delivery service itself. Included within the shipping price is the work undertaken to prepare the article, for photography, for uploading to Catawiki, for preparation and packaging the article securely and for transporting the article to the postal delivery agent for processing. Also, please consider when bidding on this lot that this artwork is shipped from the UK. Import duties will now have to be paid by the recipient to the Postal Service when the parcel arrives in your country. This will likely vary between 5% and 20% of the sale price depending on your country's Import Rate, so please check this if you are concerned. This is a Tax collected on behalf of your Government and is not an additional fee charged by us.
