精山 Seizan
This is a finely crafted Japanese incense burner (kōro) by Seizan, created in Heisei 6 (1994).
The bronze incense burner stands on three sculptural legs, each exquisitely decorated with the traditional auspicious motifs of pine, bamboo, and plum (Shochikubai), symbolizing longevity, resilience, and prosperity in Japanese culture.
The pierced lid features an intricate openwork floral design, allowing incense smoke to gently diffuse while showcasing a high level of metalworking skill. The artist’s signature “精山” is clearly engraved on the underside, and the piece is accompanied by its original wooden storage box (tomobako), bearing the artist’s handwritten signature and seal, confirming its authenticity.
This work has been carefully preserved, showing no damage to the incense burner itself. It represents a refined example of late 20th-century Japanese metal craftsmanship, suitable for collectors of Japanese art, tea ceremony utensils, or incense culture.
