Each volume contains plant portraits that are illustrated by a color plate and line drawings showing botanical details, and accompanied by an essay of 4-8 pages discussing botanical and horticultural aspects of the plants: Volume 19: portraits/plates No. 432-455 Volume 20: portraits/plates No. 456-479 Volume 21: portraits/plates No. 480-510 Volume 22: portraits/plates No. 511-542 Together, these 4 volumes contain 111 plates. Apart from the plant portraits, most issues also contains 1-2 further articles with color and b/w illustrations on a variety of topics, including plant geography, ecology, and the history of botany and botanical illustration. Volume 21, part 1 is a special issue dedicated to the botanical garden Wakehust Place, and Volume 22, part 1 is a special issue dedicated to orchids. About 250 pages per volume.
