Offered is an official United States Mint silver proof National Medal dedicated to Benjamin Franklin and the American Fire Service.
This medal was struck in accordance with the “Benjamin Franklin National Memorial Medal and Fire Service Bill of Rights Act” and authorized by the United States Congress (Public Law 102-406, signed October 12, 1992).
The obverse features a portrait of Benjamin Franklin together with a firefighter’s helmet and a historic fire engine, with the inscription “Organizer of our first fire service in 1736.”
The reverse depicts a firefighter in action with the inscriptions “To Serve and Protect” and “Fire Service Bill of Rights – By Act of Congress.”
The medal is struck in proof quality by the United States Mint in Philadelphia and comes in its original presentation case, accompanied by the original Certificate of Authenticity issued by the U.S. Mint.
