Baccarat - Karaffe - Taille 6073 / Douai - Kristall - Broc bouché - 1903-1904

Baccarat Crystal Decanter Taille 6073 – later known as “Douai” France, early 20th century (circa 1903–1904) This elegant small crystal decanter by Baccarat features the cut pattern known as Taille 6073, first recorded in the 1903–1904 Baccarat catalogues. In later years, this same pattern became known under the name “Douai”, while preserving its original design. The decoration combines diamond cutting with radiating palmettes, complemented by a faceted stopper and a finely shaped handle. The quality of the crystal and the precision of the cutting are characteristic of Baccarat’s production at the beginning of the 20th century. The catalogue illustration (model S.107) corresponds exactly to this decanter and serves as documentary proof of authenticity and period attribution. Thanks to its small size, this decanter is perfectly suited for serving liqueurs, cordials, absinthe, or digestifs, or as a refined accent piece on a formally set table. This decanter is fully compatible with the “Louise” pattern by Val Saint Lambert, as it features the same cut pattern, allowing it to blend seamlessly with that service. Baccarat is one of the most prestigious crystal manufacturers in the world, founded in 1764 in the village of Baccarat, in northeastern France, under the patronage of King Louis XV. Originally a glassworks producing window panes, mirrors, and stemware, the factory shifted to crystal production in 1816, quickly gaining international acclaim for the clarity and brilliance of its creations. By the 19th century, Baccarat had become synonymous with luxury and refinement, supplying royal courts and aristocracy across Europe, Russia, and the Middle East. The company showcased its masterpieces at the great World Exhibitions in Paris and became known for its innovation in cut crystal designs, chandeliers, and tableware. Today, Baccarat remains a symbol of French excellence in fine crystal, blending centuries-old craftsmanship with contemporary design, while its antique pieces—like early 20th-century stemware—are highly prized by collectors worldwide. Will be carefully packaged, protected and insured
