Golden Eyes Trilobit Zlichovaspis Rugosa - 6 x 3,4 cm - aus Marokko - Tierfossil

"Golden eyes" Zlichovaspis rugosa (AKA Odontochile) from Atchana, Morocco. | #PAIS 9553 See details in the pictures. High-resolution photos show matrix context, individual specimen, and magnified views for complete assessment. Note presented microscopical pictures. This is a stunning Zlichovaspis specimen, measuring 6 cm in sagittal length (as it is partially enrolled in a post-mortem position), collected from the Atchana quarry in Morocco. The trilobite displays rich dark brown shell preservation and exceptional anatomical detail, with clearly defined eye facets visible in both compound eyes. It is beautifully presented on its limestone matrix and has been expertly prepared. Restoration is minimal—making this an exceptional and highly representative example of the species. The specimen is entirely natural; you might notice a tiny nick or two upon very close inspection (likely from handling over the years), but nothing significant. Dimensions Trilobite size: 6 x 3,4 cm Matrix size: 10,4 x 9,8 cm Weight: 367 g Scientific Details Species: Zlichovaspis rugosa Family: Dalmanitidae Order: Phacopida Class: Trilobita Lithostratigraphy: Lhandar Formation Age: Lower Devonian (Pragian Stage) Locality: Atchana, Morocco Special notes : The unusual selective eye coloration is undoubtedly the most striking characteristic of this specimen. Additionally, the schizochroal ocelli are well preserved, with a high percentage of detail retained in both eyes. The golden hue results from diagenetic mineralization of the trilobite’s exoskeleton, during which the original pigmentation was replaced by iron oxides. Specimens with such vivid coloration are extremely rare and represent a unique acquisition for any collector. Don’t miss this opportunity to own a true milestone in early arthropod evolution.
