The form feels grounded and intentional, widening subtly from the foot before opening at the mouth, giving it a stable, earthy silhouette well suited to both tea tasting and contemplative use. The glaze is richly layered and expressive. Around the exterior, muted tones of ash gray, olive, and warm brown flow together in horizontal bands, revealing the movement of the potter’s wheel beneath. Areas of natural ash melt and thin glaze create a softly granular surface, while darker iron-rich sections gather near the foot and rim, adding depth and contrast. The transitions are organic rather than uniform, allowing each angle to reveal a slightly different character. Inside the cup, the glaze deepens into a darker, mossy green-brown pool, glossy and smooth, drawing the eye inward. This darker interior enhances the color of tea when poured and reflects light subtly, creating a sense of quiet concentration. The rim shows gentle variation in thickness, with a slightly softened edge that feels comfortable against the lips. The foot is clearly hand-finished, trimmed but not overly refined, with traces of kiln effects and natural firing marks visible.
