A striking, well-made wooden mizuya’dansu 水屋箪笥 (kitchen cabinet), crafted in a single section and fully restored, cleaned, and waxed. The frame is made from hinoki (cypress) wood, while the front panels are constructed from solid, precious Keyaki wood (Zelkova - Japanese oak), with sugi (cedar) wood panels along the sides. The entire cabinet is finished in a warm, dark reddish-brown hue. It features two pairs of sliding panel doors fitted with chrysanthemum-shaped thumb grips, a pair of sliding glass doors adorned with lattice work, and textured frosted glass at the base. A removable panel with a drop pull, a small drawer with a brass knob, and three adjacent drawers at the base—fitted with slender iron warabite-shaped handles—offer ample and smooth storage solutions. The sides set with sturdy horizontal bars. Period: Japan – Taishô period (1912-1916). Dimensions: Height 143.8 cm, Width 94 cm, Depth 40 cm. The cabinet is in excellent, fully restored condition with minimal wear consistent with its age. Small defect one thumb grip, and knob with dent.
