A refined porcelain vase by Fujii Shumei 藤井朱明 (b. 1936). The globular body is adorned with a graceful design of freely carved underglaze lines that flow in undulating waves across the surface, rising into a small, tapered mouth. Signed on the underside. Complete with its original signed and sealed tomobako 供箱 and accompanying leaflets. Period: Japan - Around 1988, Shôwa period Dimensions: Height 29.5 cm, Diameter 28 cm. In excellent condition. Please refer to the images for a clear condition reference. Fujii Shumei was born in Arita, Saga Prefecture, in 1936 and began his ceramic training at the age of 15. He went on to establish his own kiln, the Shumei-gama 朱明窯, and became widely recognised through repeated selections at major exhibitions, including the Nitten, Japan Ceramic Art Exhibition, and the Kyushu–Yamaguchi Ceramics Exhibition, where he received several awards such as the Minister of Education Prize.
