Highland Park Ice Edition – The first "Giant Whisky" from Orkney With the Highland Park Ice Edition, the Orkney distillery enters new mythical territory: following the legendary Valhalla Series featuring the gods Freya, Loki, Odin, and Thor, Highland Park now turns its attention to their arch-enemies – the Frost Giants of Norse mythology. The single malt is presented in a striking, ice-blue bottle, encased in a decorative wooden frame. On the palate, it is powerful, creamy, and slightly oily, with fruity, spicy, and smoky notes. A few drops of water reveal its full aroma – however, ice cubes are strictly forbidden. Like the whiskies of the Valhalla Series, the Ice Edition is a limited release from Scotland's northernmost distillery. Since 1798, Highland Park has been distilling its characterful malt on the Orkney Islands – traditionally dried over peat containing heather and renowned for its unmistakable island character. For those who already own the "God" bottlings, it might be wise to place this "Giant" on a different shelf – you never know...
