IWC - Cal.89 18KYG - Herren - 1950-1959

IWC Old Inter Cal.89 18KYG Solid Gold Fancy Lugs Script Logo / Patina Dial / CASSIS x HORWEEN Leather Strap 【Detailed Video】 For more information, please watch the Catawiki dedicated video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ymkWp5qYA8Y [Description] "The Golden Era of Cal.89. A Supreme Dress Watch Defined by 18K Solid Gold Fancy Lugs." We are proud to present a solid 18K gold model of the "Old Inter," a timepiece that symbolizes the golden age of IWC. It is powered by the legendary Cal.89, a movement that has supported the brand since its birth in 1946. Known for being housed in the iconic Mark XI pilot's watch, this manual-wind caliber is celebrated in horological history for balancing military-grade robustness with the exquisite finishing of a luxury machine. This particular piece dates back to the 1950s. While maintaining the heavy presence of 18K solid gold, the "Fancy Lugs"—with their elegant, flowing curves—showcase the rare craftsmanship of that era. With a 36mm case diameter and a slim thickness of just 8.5mm, it sits gracefully under a shirt cuff—a privilege reserved for vintage gold dress watches. The dial features a unique "Patina" finish, offering a one-of-a-kind character. It bears the prestigious "International Watch Co." script logo, a hallmark of the Old Inter. The uniform aging acquired over decades provides an artistic aesthetic that only a true vintage piece can possess. Weighing a total of 33g (including the movement), the watch provides a substantial feel on the wrist, delivering the pure joy of ownership. The strap is a carefully selected CASSIS leather made from HORWEEN leather. The world-renowned American tannery's leather perfectly harmonizes the vintage depth of the patina dial with the brilliance of the solid gold case. Combining a "stark and sturdy" interior with a luxurious exterior, this IWC masterpiece is a high-completion timepiece worthy of being a lifelong asset. [Condition Report] Dial: Shows age-related changes such as tanning, spots, and patina. The hands and indices exhibit signs of aging. Case & Case Back: Displays light scratches, scuffs, and minor tool marks from opening. Crystal: Shows minor scuffs and surface scratches. Strap & Buckle: Both are aftermarket (no material hallmarks). The strap shows some signs of use but is ready for immediate wear. The buckle is a GP (gold-plated) pin buckle. Operation: The crown is located at the 3 o'clock position. Manual winding can be performed in the natural position. As this is a manual-wind watch, please wind it daily. To prevent mainspring damage, please wind slowly and gently until you feel resistance. Pull the crown to adjust the time. This model does not feature a hack (seconds-stop) function. Accessories: Watch head only.
