Rare Meiji Japanese Cloisonné Vase – Pale Turquoise Ground – Birds & Butterflies – 22 cm_finely crafted
Elegant Japanese cloisonné enamel vase, dating to the late Meiji period (circa 1890–1910). The vase features a refined baluster form and is decorated with birds and butterflies in flight, surrounded by scrolling foliage and geometric panels. The decoration is executed in fine wire cloisonné on a rare pale turquoise / celadon-toned ground, a color highly appreciated by collectors for its softness and technical difficulty.
The composition is enriched with alternating shield-shaped panels, floral borders, and detailed ornamental bands. The enamel work shows excellent balance between figurative and decorative elements, typical of high-quality Meiji craftsmanship.
Finished with a copper rim and foot, the vase retains a beautiful natural patina consistent with age. The interior glazing and base further confirm authentic late 19th / early 20th century Japanese production.
Dimensions: Height: 22 cm • Weight: 426 g
Condition: Overall very good antique condition • No cracks, no restorations • Minor surface wear and firing speckles consistent. Enamels well preserved with good color stability
