Usubata vases are historically associated with formal standing flower arrangements (tatebana) and are regarded as one of the most dignified and established forms in Japanese floral art. The piece stands on three stylized “Hōsū” (young phoenix) legs, an auspicious motif symbolizing renewal and prosperity. The tripod composition enhances both stability and sculptural presence.
