Silber, Gold 925 Sterling-Silber – antik viktorianisch – 1893 James Fenton - Medaillon

Antique Victorian Gilt Sterling Silver Locket – 1893 A beautiful and authentic Victorian oval locket, dated 1893, exquisitely decorated on both sides with richly detailed floral engraving. This is a classic example of late-19th-century sentimental jewellery, designed to hold cherished photographs or keepsakes close to the heart. The locket is crafted in sterling silver with original gold gilding, giving it a warm, luxurious appearance while retaining the substance and quality expected of Victorian silverwork. Both the front and reverse feature intricate scrolling floral motifs, finely engraved and still crisp despite its age. The interior opens cleanly to reveal two original photo compartments, complete with their retaining rings, allowing photographs to be securely displayed on both sides. The inside surfaces show honest age-related wear consistent with use, adding to its authentic antique character. Hallmarks & Maker The locket is fully hallmarked for sterling silver, Birmingham assay, 1893, and bears the maker’s mark J.S., attributed to James Fenton. The lion passant is clearly present on the bail and on each internal photo clip, confirming the quality of the silver throughout.
