The vase features a traditional gourd-shaped (double-bulb) form, decorated with floral motifs, autumn leaves and a cartouche with architectural and ornamental elements, executed in a classic Satsuma-inspired style. The upper section is finished with a decorative border in blue and gold, with raised and gilded relief details. The base bears the inscription “SATSUMA – Hand painted”, along with Japanese characters, indicating Japanese production for the export market. The glaze shows fine craquelure consistent with the technique and period. Likely produced in Japan, 20th century, in the Satsuma revival/export tradition.
