A large bronze okimono with a uniform brown patina depicting Kannon, shown standing and draped in a traditional flowing robe. The figure holds a rolled scroll in the right hand, while the other hand follows the movement of the garment.
The face is rendered with a serene and contemplative expression, characteristic of the deity’s iconography, and the details of the robes are precisely executed.
Signed on the base Takamura Kōun 高村光雲.
Kannon is the Buddhist deity of compassion and mercy, venerated as the one who listens to the sufferings of all living beings.
