A fine bronze ring-shaped pendant, dating to the European Bronze Age. The pendant features a large loop, thinner on one side and wider on the other. A rectangular stem, adorned with horizontal ridges, features at the top and develops into a perforated loop for suspension. The obverse is slightly convex whilst the reverse is flat and unadorned. Patination, earthy encrustations and wear such as scratches to the surface. Chipping around the edges. European Bronze Age farmers differed from their stone-cutting predecessors – they used horses and chariots to work; kept flocks of sheep for woollen clothing; and used bronze as a standard commodity of exchange. Technological development was rapid; the manufacture of tools and weapons increased; and specialised equipment emerged for shaving, woodworking, and metalworking. At the same time, advancements in decorative arts were also gaining momentum. Crafters of jewellery, accessories, and other personal adornments utilised the versatility of bronze to explore new styles and forms.
