They are displayed on Hinamatsuri (Girl's Day), a day of the Girls' Festival, in hopes of girls' healthy growth and happy marriages. Key Features Costumes (Twelve-Layered Ceremony): The two dolls are wearing luxurious outfits modeled after the formal attire of Heian-period aristocrats, the sokutai (male doll) and the junihitoe (female doll). From the image, we can see that both the male doll's outfit, with its blue and green motifs, and the female doll's outfit, with its red and orange motifs, are made of intricately woven fabrics (such as high-quality Nishijin-ori fabrics) with abundant gold thread. Face (Head): The face is thought to be in the "Kyogan" style, characterized by long, narrow eyes and a refined, gentle expression. These dolls are made using the traditional technique of layering layers of gofun (shell powder), showcasing the artisan's advanced skills. Arrangement: In the image, the male doll is displayed on the left and the female doll on the right. This is the arrangement used by the modern Imperial family and the "Kanto Hina" display style that is mainstream in the Kanto region. Based on the ancient Japanese concept of "left superior" (right superior when facing), there is also the "Kyoto Hina" style (common in Kyoto and the Kansai region) which uses the opposite arrangement. Meaning: Hina dolls are considered to be like talismans that protect their owner's misfortunes, and are an important part of traditional culture, passing on the love and wishes for their children's happiness from parents to children. This Hina doll is a magnificent masterpiece, crafted using traditional techniques and luxurious decorations. Emperor / Empress Set of 2 31*22*21cm 536g 34*20*16cm 407g (G1939/G1940)
