Item Description This exceptional ceramic vessel "Kaitou Senmon Tsubo" (Ash Clay Linear Pattern Jar) is a masterwork by the distinguished Japanese ceramic artist Satoh Kazuhiko 佐藤和彦 (1947-). Born in Fujisawa, Kanagawa Prefecture, Satoh graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts in 1972, where he studied under Living National Treasures Fujimoto Yoshimichi and Tamura Koichi. His graduation work received the prestigious Salon de Printemps Prize, launching a remarkable career spanning over five decades. This piece exemplifies Satoh's sophisticated approach to contemporary ceramics, featuring elegant linear patterns etched into the ash-glazed surface. He graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts in 1972, studying under two Living National Treasures: Fujimoto Yoshimichi and Tamura Koichi. His exceptional talent was recognized early when his graduation work received the Salon de Printemps Prize. Since establishing his own kiln in 1972, Satoh has held over 100 solo exhibitions throughout Japan and internationally. His works have been featured at major venues including Tokyo Central Museum, Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi, and museums in New York, Sydney, Melbourne, and London. In 1994, he created ceramic vessels for renowned ikebana master Kudo Kazuhiko's exhibition at Bunkamura Museum.
