DESCRIPTION:
If nature ever indulged in pure geometry for its own sake, this crystal would be the result.
This spinel rises as a precise act of balance, an octahedral form so clean and intentional that it feels less like an accident of growth and more like a resolved architectural decision made deep within the Earth.
Crystallised as a true isometric specimen, the crystal displays the classical octahedral habit that defines spinel in its most complete and honest expression. Each triangular face meets its counterpart with controlled symmetry, edges sharp and readable, forming a compact structure that feels closed, stable and finished. There is no distortion, no excess growth, no compromise. The geometry is complete.
The colour is a pure and confident pink, free from red dominance and without secondary brown or purple modifiers. It presents as a bright fancy pink, gemlike and luminous, with a chromatic clarity that feels light driven rather than surface bound. Light penetrates the crystal easily, activating its internal volume and revealing depth, brightness and saturation that immediately place it within gem quality material.
Transparency ranges from translucent to locally transparent, particularly along thinner zones and edges, where light interaction enhances the crystal’s internal presence. Natural internal features are visible and coherent, reinforcing its untreated state and confirming an unmanipulated growth history.
The lustre is sharply vitreous, clean and reflective across the preserved faces, emphasising the precision of the octahedral geometry. Nothing has been polished, altered or enhanced. This is spinel exactly as it formed, preserved in its natural state and presented without intervention.
Spinels from Myanmar hold a unique position in gemology. Long overshadowed by ruby, they are now recognised as some of the most stable and visually compelling coloured gemstones known. Fully formed crystals displaying both clean geometry and refined colour are increasingly scarce, particularly at small sizes where any imperfection becomes immediately visible.
This is not simply rough material. It is a complete natural crystal, where form, colour and provenance converge with clarity and restraint.

NOTABLE POINTS:
• Complete natural spinel crystal
• Well defined octahedral geometry
• Fully preserved crystal faces and edges
• True isometric growth, not fragmentary rough
• Gem quality pink colour visible without cutting
• Bright fancy pink hue with no red dominance
• Strong internal light response for its size

• Clean vitreous lustre across all faces
• Classical spinel morphology
• Compact, balanced and visually coherent structure
• Dual appeal to mineral and gem collectors
COLLECTOR’S INTEREST:
This specimen is particularly appealing to collectors who value precision of form paired with refined colour. Pink spinels with this level of geometric integrity are far less common than faceting fragments, especially when preserved as complete crystals.
The combination of octahedral symmetry, fancy pink coloration and Mogok provenance places this piece firmly within the scope of serious reference material. It is a crystal that rewards careful observation rather than size alone, offering both educational and aesthetic value.
LAPIDARY POTENTIAL:
The clarity, colour purity and internal behaviour indicate genuine lapidary potential. With correct orientation, the crystal could yield a small but visually striking pink gemstone, benefiting from spinel’s excellent hardness and long term stability.
That said, any cutting would irreversibly destroy the natural octahedral geometry that defines this specimen. Its most truthful and valuable expression remains as a preserved natural crystal, where colour, structure and growth history remain fully legible.

Shipping and Handling:
All orders are shipped by Portuguese National Post.
• Dispatch time: within 1 to 3 business days after payment confirmation to Catawiki
• Transit time with CTT service: between 5 to 7 business days within europe and worldwide, depending on destination national post.

Photography and transparency:
All photographs are taken under controlled lighting conditions using a macro lens, carefully selected to present each specimen as accurately as possible.
No filters, colour enhancement, or artificial saturation are applied.
The lighting setup uses a calibrated 5500K light source, replicating neutral daylight to reveal natural tones, surface features, and internal characteristics. Under warmer or weaker indoor lighting, colours may appear slightly different, which is normal.
The purpose of this photographic process is documentation and representation, not visual enhancement. Images are intended to reflect the specimen faithfully as it appears under balanced natural light conditions.
Identification and ethics:
All specimens offered are natural and described to the best of our knowledge, based on direct sourcing, professional experience, and information provided by trusted suppliers working at the origin.
Every effort is made to ensure transparency and accuracy regarding identification, locality, and general characteristics, avoiding misleading statements about treatment, provenance, or nature.
Customs and import taxes:
Any customs duties, import fees, or local taxes applied by the destination country are entirely the responsibility of the winning bidder.
These charges are not included in the auction price or shipping cost and are determined by the buyer’s local authorities.
Guarantee and resolution:
Customer satisfaction is important. In the unlikely event of an issue such as loss, damage, or discrepancy, please contact us promptly through Catawiki’s messaging system.
Each case is handled individually and fairly, with appropriate solutions offered when justified.
Appreciation and commitment:
We sincerely thank you for your trust. Our work focuses on careful selection, accurate representation, and respectful presentation of mineral specimens with character and interest.
Each piece is chosen for its individual qualities rather than speculative or financial considerations. We aim to provide a transparent, reliable, and consistent experience for collectors at all levels.
With gratitude,
