Superb amulet of an upright monkey, made of green serpentine, is an ancient Egyptian piece from the Late Period (722-332 BC). This amulet, 6 cm high, 1.5 cm wide and 1.7 cm deep, represents an upright monkey, a symbolic figure linked to intelligence, ingenuity and the link with Thot, god of wisdom. Carved from green serpentine, a material associated with protection and regeneration, this amulet was probably used as a good luck talisman. It is in excellent condition.
