Early Years (1889–1950s) Georges Ducommun founded Doxa at just 21 years old. Early success came from precision pocket watches and later wristwatches. By the early 1900s, Doxa won multiple awards at international exhibitions. In the 1930s–40s, Doxa became known for robust, reliable tool watches, including watches for doctors and pilots. The Big Turning Point: Diving Watches (1960s) This is where Doxa became legendary. In 1967, Doxa released the SUB 300, one of the most important dive watches ever made Key innovations: Bright orange dial for maximum underwater visibility (backed by U.S. Navy testing) Unidirectional rotating bezel No-decompression dive time scale on the bezel 300m water resistance (huge for the time) The SUB 300 was widely adopted by professional divers.
