CONTEXT / FUNCTION In the Mandara Mountains area, heavy bronze ornaments were worn as personal adornment and could express identity and status. Their impact often lies in the clarity of silhouette, symmetry and the depth of patina acquired over time. AESTHETIC / TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION This open cuff is beautifully balanced and symmetrical, with subtly flared rims and an architectural profile. The decoration is arranged in well-defined registers, combining a braided/chevron-like border with a sequence of repeated semi-circular motifs, giving the piece a rhythmic, graphic elegance.
